A spectacular wedding at the Firestone Winery in Santa Ynez. The light on the vineyards was made to order. Warm and golden. More to follow. Stay tuned.

I wanted to highlight my friend and former second shooter Lisa Maksoudian. Based out of San Luis, Lisa specializes in newborns, babies, and children. Her portraits reflect a wonderful sense of simplicity, color and vibrancy. She also does amazing wedding and engagement work. Most of all, I love her fresh and whimsical approach to every one of her shoots. Go Lisa!
Every summer I always take the opportunity to dig my creative roots into Rock Balancing. Since photography is two dimensional, I find it a blast to let the 3-D side of myself out from time to time. Several summers ago while on a family camping trip on the Big Sur coast I started arranging rocks in creative ways. I found out that the simple art of balancing rocks is a cool art form. I find it interesting as I encounter the array of responses from onlookers. Everything from āyou must use Velcroā to there must be a rod going through the rocksā. Mostly just a lot of patience, a positive attitude, and a child-like curiosity to arrange things in creative and uncontrived ways. So⦠every time Iām on a family outing, or visiting a new place I always take advantage of balancing some rocks in natural settings. Even though it all looks quite difficult, it really isnāt. Go out, balance a few rocks, and surprise yourself. Let me know how your experience went. Enjoy and stay balanced.
Hereās a poster of the various locatons I have left my mark: a few of the locations: San Diego, Mammoth Lakes, Big Sur, San Luis Creek and Monterey.
Kristinās parents have a lovely home nestled in rural Arroyo Grande. It was the perfect setting for an amazing wedding. Kristin was simply a stunning bride. She was also sweet as pie. Godās blessing was all over this couple during this beautiful day. I also had the opportunity to work with some incredible vendors. Lawren Ussery of Manzinita did the spectacular florals and Angel Canon did an incredible job as coordinator. Here are some shots from the day. Enjoy.
Kristin and her father sharing a special moment right before the Ceremony. Precious!
Since I had a wedding in Saratoga, Stacy and I thought it only appropriate to spend several days in one of our all time favorite cities, San Francisco. We just love that place and find ourselves getting lost in all the color, culture, history, architecture and eclectic nature of it all. A favorite area that we explored was North Beach, the Italian District. Must have been the Italian in me that connected with the many great Italian restaurants and sidewalk Espresso Cafes.
I was able to catch up on my āSignsā project. As you can see their is a wide array of colorful signs, rich in personality.
Lynnda and Jeff were married at the Shelter Cove Resort in Pismo beach and had their Reception at the Holland Ranch in San Luis Obispo. Christine and myself had non-stop fun with this precious couple and all their colorful and fun-loving guests. Both Lynnda and Jeff have a winsome spirit and are grateful for life. It was a pleasure to photograph their wedding. Enjoy.
I thought it would be fun to take a break from blogging my photography and highlight some of my album designs. First off, I use Renaissance Fine Art Albums. They are a traditional flush-mounted album with a 1mm space in between pages. I think they are some of the best albums around. The pages are thick and the quality is amazing. I do all the page designs myself in Photoshop, then ship them off to New York for mounting and binding. I enjoy telling the story of the day through my designs that are always unique to each wedding. I also try to stay away from the āscrapbook/collageā feel by keeping each page simple and clean, without the cluttered look. Less is more.
Even though we had never met in person, I felt as if we had already known each other. This fun-loving couple will be tying the knot in a few short weeks. We chose a majestic stretch of coastline in Morro Bay for their Engagement Session. They are both seasoned Equestrians so they thought it only fitting to bring the horses along. It was fun shooting Lynnda and Jeff as they rode their horses so gracefully on the shoreline. I look forward to shooting their wedding in Shell beach and their Reception at the Holland Ranch in SLO. See you soon.

A recent Engagement session with Nicole and Jason. A few years back I photographed Nicoleās sister Sarah and look forward to shooting Nicoleās wedding as well. Itās always fun strolling the streets of SLO with couples like Nicole and Jason. I loved their bright smiles and fun-loving personalities. We also ran into Jasonās Fire truck from Station #3, which provided a fun back drop for some cool photos. Enjoy.
