Professional Headshots

Professional headshots play a crucial role in today’s digital world for various reasons, particularly in the context of personal branding, professional networking, and online presence. In the digital age, many first impressions are made online. A professional headshot is often the first visual representation of an individual that others encounter on social media, professional networking sites, and company websites.

My expertise and experience as a headshot photographer include proficiency in posing and direction, location and background knowledge, attention to detail and realizing that every client is unique, tailoring my approach to suit the individual needs and preferences of each client.

I hired David to create a set of headshots for me to use online and on social media. Not only was the photoshoot a fun-filled process, but the headshots turned out great. While I had the pre conceived notion that headshots are supposed to be “stale” he proved to me that its possible to bring life to such basic photos. I’d highly recommend David for all photography services.” Jason Vaught

Types of Professional Headshots Services Offered

As a professional headshot photographer, my services are designed to cater to the diverse needs of individuals across various industries. Below are several business and professional headshot styles that I offer.

Corporate Headshots

The style for corporate headshots is characterized by clean and professional aesthetics. The focus is on creating images that exude a sense of reliability and competence, aligning with the corporate environment. Corporate headshots often feature neutral backgrounds such as solid colors or subtle textures. This helps keep the attention on the subject and ensures a timeless and versatile look that can be used across various professional contexts. My goal is to capture natural expressions that reflect the subject’s personality while still maintaining a level of formality. Encouraging genuine smiles and relaxed poses helps create approachable yet professional headshots and business portraits.

Achieving a polished and professional corporate look for headshots is crucial for making a positive impression in the business world. Here are some pieces of advice on attire and appearance for a corporate look in headshots:
•  Wear a solid-colored, long-sleeved dress shirt that complements the suit. White, light blue, or subtle patterns work well. Avoid distracting patterns or overly bright colors.
•  Wear a solid-colored, long-sleeved dress shirt that complements the suit. White, light blue, or subtle patterns work well. Avoid distracting patterns or overly bright colors.
•  Women can opt for a tailored suit or business-appropriate attire. A well-fitted blazer paired with tailored trousers or a knee-length skirt is a classic choice. Dresses should be professional and not too flashy.
•  Wear a solid-colored blouse or top that complements the suit or separates. Subdued colors such as white, cream, or light pastels work well. Avoid overly bright colors or distracting patterns.

Creative Professional Headshots

Tailoring headshots for individuals in creative fields involves adopting a more expressive and personalized approach to capture their unique personality and creativity. I typically begin with a thorough consultation to understand the individual’s creative style, artistic preferences, and the message they want to convey through their headshots.
Flexibility in wardrobe choices encourages the individual to express their creativity through clothing, accessories, and colors that resonate with their personal style. I believe experimenting with dynamic and unconventional posing to capture a sense of movement and energy encourages the individual to express their personality through posture and gestures.

Actor & Performer Headshots

Creating specialized headshots for actors, musicians, and performers requires a unique approach that goes beyond the traditional corporate style. The goal is to capture the individual’s character, personality, and stage presence.

LinkedIn and Social Media Headshots

Creating headshots for LinkedIn profiles and other social media platforms requires a balance between professionalism and approachability. Remember, your LinkedIn headshot is often the first visual impression people have of you online. Striking the right balance between professionalism and approachability is key to making a positive impact on your professional network.

Personal Branding Headshots

Creating personal branding headshots involves capturing images that authentically represent your professional identity, values, and unique qualities. These modern headshots go beyond the standard corporate look to convey a more holistic, personal narrative and branding image.

What is the difference between a traditional headshot and an environmental headshot?
A. Traditional headshot focuses solely on the subject’s face and shoulders against a neutral background, while an environmental headshot incorporates the subject’s work environment or surroundings to provide additional context and depth.
Where do your portrait sessions take place?
A. All my professional photo shoots are done outside in natural light. Currently studio portraits are not available.
What about hair and make-up?
A. Your hair and makeup should enhance your natural features and be kept simple and natural unless you’re going for a specific look. Avoid extreme, lustrous or reflective makeup. Hairstyles should be you and the way you’d like to look for the next year or two.
What should I bring to a headshot session?
A. You should bring a few outfit options, hair and makeup products for touch-ups, and any specific props or accessories related to the purpose of the headshot.
Can you retouch my headshot?
A. Yes, we can retouch your headshot to remove blemishes, adjust lighting or colour, and enhance certain features. However, I try to avoid excessive retouching that could make the image appear unrealistic or misleading. We remove some temporary blemishes, apply subtle skin smoothing but leave those natural distinguishing features that help make you unique.
