Ryan and Karen were married at Firestone Vineyard in Santa Ynez. Every element of the day, ranging from this amazing venue to the myriad of elegant details made for an incredible wedding. Christine and I took advantage of the sweet, afternoon light that bathed the vineyards in amber and gold. Ryan and Karen, who met in Law school several years ago, are both the sweetest couple and were blessed beyond measure with a most memorable day.
I want to give a huge shout out to Leanne Elliot of Soleil Events. Leanne and her assistant were the perfect Coordinator’s for this amazing day. They took care of every detail and were a delight to work with. Enjoy.

A spectacular wedding at the Firestone Winery in Santa Ynez. The light on the vineyards was made to order. Warm and golden. More to follow. Stay tuned.

I wanted to highlight my friend and former second shooter Lisa Maksoudian. Based out of San Luis, Lisa specializes in newborns, babies, and children. Her portraits reflect a wonderful sense of simplicity, color and vibrancy. She also does amazing wedding and engagement work. Most of all, I love her fresh and whimsical approach to every one of her shoots. Go Lisa!

Every summer I always take the opportunity to dig my creative roots into Rock Balancing. Since photography is two dimensional, I find it a blast to let the 3-D side of myself out from time to time. Several summers ago while on a family camping trip on the Big Sur coast I started arranging rocks in creative ways. I found out that the simple art of balancing rocks is a cool art form. I find it interesting as I encounter the array of responses from onlookers. Everything from “you must use Velcro” to there must be a rod going through the rocks”. Mostly just a lot of patience, a positive attitude, and a child-like curiosity to arrange things in creative and uncontrived ways. So… every time I’m on a family outing, or visiting a new place I always take advantage of balancing some rocks in natural settings. Even though it all looks quite difficult, it really isn’t. Go out, balance a few rocks, and surprise yourself. Let me know how your experience went. Enjoy and stay balanced.
Here’s a poster of the various locatons I have left my mark: a few of the locations: San Diego, Mammoth Lakes, Big Sur, San Luis Creek and Monterey.

Kristin’s parents have a lovely home nestled in rural Arroyo Grande. It was the perfect setting for an amazing wedding. Kristin was simply a stunning bride. She was also sweet as pie. God’s blessing was all over this couple during this beautiful day. I also had the opportunity to work with some incredible vendors. Lawren Ussery of Manzinita did the spectacular florals and Angel Canon did an incredible job as coordinator. Here are some shots from the day. Enjoy.
Kristin and her father sharing a special moment right before the Ceremony. Precious!

wow, that first image is breathtaking. Great perspective.
The photos are better than I could have expected and we are so happy that we picked David for our wedding and engagement photos. I wanted a photographer that would blend into the background and capture moments without intrusion and he did just what he promised.
Hi David,
